ASV Levers - Installation Issues?

Hi. I tried to install the ASV brake lever today and had issues getting the pivot pin to seat and had put the old lever back in. Anyone else have similar issues?

Quick update on my lever situation - I called ASV and talked to tech service (spoke with Bob - great guy). He provided steps to address the issue with the clutch switch not being made and is sending me a new actuator rod for the front brake. The new actuator rod is shorter than stock and will hopefully enable the brake lever to be mounted and work properly....

Where did you buy from? I'm interested in these levers as well.

Are they updating the levers offered for Desert X for future customers? How do they fit in the perch’s? Are they tight like OEM? I hate aftermarket levers that are not & have play. I would however like shorter more adjustable levers than OEM but function over form as hand guards keep them from being seen.

Hi, GusDuc

I don't find the ASV levers "looser" than the OEMs. I did get the shorty levers, so that may influence how they feel. They are easy to adjust and have a good position range. Bob the customer service guy at ASV will be working to get the update done to include a reduced length rod with the brake as well as the clutch....

Damn they look tiny with those Barkbusters!
I like them but I could use a bit more length on brake for more leverage....
I didn't have issues with the brake levers (shorter push rod was included in box), but the clutch lever I had issues with. It felt like the stock push rod for the clutch was too long, it was not fully engaging the clutch when all the way out. Haven't reached out to asv yet tho. But I will say they are hands down better then the stock.

Short rod was meant for the clutch per the instructions that I got with my lever. Stock brake push rod is too long to use with ASV lever...
If I installed that clutch lever I'd ride around with the hi-beam activated perhaps 75% of the tme (up from my current 35%)!

Yep! I was constantly hitting that high beam switch while riding 😕
@cleatus.maximus

So I tried installing these levers tonight and ran into the same problem with the brake lever. I had to reinstall the original. I ran out of time to work on the clutch side.

What was the fix ASV told you? Or was it to send a shorter rod? I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Did you get the part and have the lever installed?

Call ASV and ask for Bob in tech service. On the brake side, he will send you a shorter rod. FYI - this will be another clutch side rod for the DX. This rod will get you functional on the brake , but I think its about 1mm too short. On the clutch side, you have to modify the switch holder bracket to ensure that the clutch switch is made when the clutch is released...

I'm having the same issue with the ASV front brake lever and just reinstalled the OEM. The levers I received are both labeled BC52G, but the shipping invoice lists CRB552-K and BRC552-K. I wonder if I did not get the correct levers shipped.

Was the solution shorter rods for both the brake and clutch sides?

Also, what is the modification do you mean "On the clutch side, you have to modify the switch holder bracket..."?

Thanks!

Yes, it is correct that both levers are labeled the same thing ( BC52G). You are provided with a right hand and a left hand version, however. In my case, a shortened rod was provided meant for the clutch side, which works. The problem is with the brake - you need to have ASV send you another short rod (same as clutch). I have spoken with the folks at ASV and made them aware of this problem already. The clutch side switch holder bracket has a tab on it that won't the switch be positioned properly relative to the actuator on the lever. Solution is to bend it out of the way.
