Aux fuel tank = no luggage. Anybody have the tank yet?

Only the Italians could add 100 miles of range and subtract the ability mount hard bags at the same time… anyone else struggling with this? That added fuel is a huge deal in the western US.

The cost to just carry that extra 100 miles and as you say limit luggage isn’t happening for me as I’m glad to stop an find fuel every 200+ miles than pay silly money for the extra 7litres tank sat behind me , but I’m sure in time someone will bring out pannier rails that sit alongside the rear tank , just a waiting game from suppliers to bring accessories out 👍
I'm just as irritated as everyone else. I bought the aux tank and it's sitting in my garage, scheduled to install on Nov. 15, next week. I tried returning or selling, but none panned out, so I'll bite the bullet and install...

I have a mosko moto reckless 40, and the tank is way to wide for the reckless to work. I'm going to try to make an adapter. If I'm successful I'll post it here

How much will you sell it for?
20% discount over what I paid, and I can pay UPS ground.

I'm scheduled to install it on 11/15 (next Tuesday) if I don't sell till then.
I appreciate that. I’ll have to think about it. Thank you.

I didn't realize the auxiliary tank would even interfere with the R40. Dang. That was my backup plan.
That was my back up plan as well, although with the Mosko Reckless 80. Glad I'm finding out all these bits of info BEFORE l buy a DX.
The aux tank is a nice bit of bling, but an 8 litre / 2 gallon fuel bladder is way better as it can be emptied into the main tank at any time. Not just when the main tank is low.
Then you can run the Mosko luggage.
Bagger?
I'm really sorry but my first reaction to your first pic from behind was " looks like a mini HD bagger setup"
Once again, really sorry.
Lol no worries man. I guess it’s just the angle of how I took the pic. I love it tho.

Wow. That is wide. How do you think it would hold up in a get-off?
I’d be really interested in your “real-life” experience with the tank. Unclear how it actually functions from the manual- do you have to stop to transfer the fuel, do you have to wait until the main tank is on reserve, I’m guessing it has to be filled separately since it has a filler? Is something missing on the left hand tank? That looks strange. Thanks for your input!
I have not completed the installation of the hoses yet so you can still see one sticking out the side. I’ll update this week once it’s all done.

I bought the Mosko Moto Reckless 80 for mine. At first glance it seemed like it wouldn’t fit, but yesterday I found a bike that had them installed. The rider says there is a little bit of mod needed to raise of the bag a little but otherwise it works fine. As for how they work you have to wait until the light goes off on the low fuel then you can pump fuel from the aux tanks to the main tank. It will only fill once the main tank is getting empty. Here are some pics with the reckless 80 bags.

Hi and that looks nice! Thanks for sharing. I have ordered the bike with auxiliary tank also and plan to replace the pillion seat with the sportrack from Hepco & Becker (Item nr. 6707638 00 01), see picture. Only planning to install the toprack and not the side panniers, since that's where the tank is. With this setup, hoping to have additional options to strap soft panniers (still have to figure out with ones, those Mosko's look awesome!).

I just bought the tank and am having buyers remorse reading all of this… i have a reckless 40 but can buy the 80 if it creates a win win. I run a 1200 GSA now and love the extra range and capacity as fuel stops can be hard to find at times in the back country of OR, ID, WA, NV, CA. I may be able to pivot and see if the‘be started the project and cancel it… thoughts?
