Cat delete and warranty

603 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  BUZZ71
Hi all,

thinking about doing the cat delete pipe from Arrow as i have their titanium muffler already installed - the bike is not as loud as i would have hoped.

I checked with my dealer, they said this would void my warranty on the bike. Seems a bit weird since Ducati themselves offer a link pipe with their Termignoni race exhaust...

Anybody has any experience with this?

Thanks!!!

It comes down to each countries individual consumer protection laws . Here in Australia they cannot just void a warranty, if the warranty claim can be a result of the non factory accessory then they have the right to refuse the warranty but cannot refuse any warranty that has nothing to do with the installed accessory.
There are grey areas especially when you add exhaust systems, if you had engine damage such as a burnt valve or such then they would have some grounds to blame the cat delete system. Their factory cat delete system has been tested by them and a suitable map is installed that they have been able to test and sign off on being ok.
Even if you reflashed the engine map after installing a non genuine cat delete they will not honour that because they had no control over it.
The consumer protection laws are there to keep manufacturers honest but they do have rights to deny claims if they believe it contributes to the fault when you decide to use non genuine accessories.

That is 100% correct.
Never trust the Dealer, always read the documentation that the manufacturer provides you.
Just keep your stock stuff & slap it back on if you have an issue. They would be hard pressed to prove it caused a problem & deny a warranty claim.

It won't void the warranty on a electrical warranty or a suspension or a braking/abs warranty claim etc but will void the warranty in the event of a engine warranty claim with my dealer in the uk,icing same position about fitting the termi exhaust with the ducati evo remap or go hp course with decat and a custom remap .??
