Crash Protection // A comprehensive list

3239 Views 37 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  euromoto
Hello all!

I've put together a compilation of all currently in production/development Crash Protection that I've stumbled upon. I'll keep adding to the list as I find more products and i'll make similar lists for skid plates and other functional aftermarket parts as we go.

Currently the format includes an image, pricing in Euros & pricing converted to USD, material properties & official links.

Hope this is of help to someone out there looking to kit their bikes out. If I've missed something out that flew under the radar please do make mention of it and I'll keep adding them to the master file.

Wow! this is something I wish there was for my KTM 890 as well.

Do you plan on doing this for other parts like bash plates, rear luggage racks, luggage racks, etc?
Is it me or does the OEM crash bars look the most sturdy and rugged?

My crash bars from Ducati are pretty stout!

That's the plan - lists for all kinds of functional accessories over time. Since i'm scouting for my own bike anyway, it just makes sense to document and make it available to the larger community. Have been in contact with Kai, the founder of TwinPegs and if there's enough interest in the product, they would surely come up with a kit for the X. AXP racing is almost ready with their HDPE bash plates for the X, should be out for sale soon after testing. That's one I'm personally holding out for.

They look it, they're also super pricey depending on which side of the pond you're in. In a price conscious market like India those seem exorbitant.

The OEMs seem pretty well made. I'm willing to also put my neck out for Outback Motortek, those guys love torture testing their goods.

After viewing this post I opted for the heed bars and after the usual problems from UPS they arrived and look very good ,so nice one 7.83hz .

Waiting for the Wunderlich to be finalised and released. Looks sleek.
I bought the SW-motech crash-bars, since it can be combined with EVO-tech front cilinder/water tube protection, with which the OEM crashbars do’nt.

Nice! Should get SW Motech skid plate too as with it you do not need EVOTECH cover.
for my proposals I'm looking only for a lower tank protection. so far I didn't discover any type of that.
maybe the outback mototek solution will work without using the upper rail. a more simple solution is mounting a bobbin kit but that destroys a bit more the silhouette....any other ideas?

Outback was initially developing the lower and upper kits separately but after testing they have found that lowers alone are not upto the job and so they'll only sell the full combo. I too was hoping to just get the lowers. Will need to watch the space some more. I'm also liking the look of the SRC Moto.
Akurat Costa Rica crash bars are now available too. View attachment 573 View attachment 574 View attachment 577 View attachment 576 View attachment 575 View attachment 578

something to protect mainly the lower tank area. for heavy off-road some other options would be better, for more road focus some minimal protection
that's minimal protection:

useful onroads?
that's minimal protection: useful onroads?
Might be okay for road usage but it'd probably lead to a bruised tank and fairing in case of a slide. I'd be cautious. This paired with barkbusters would make for a decent combo. Maybe try them on at a local shop and see what it looks like when laid over?

Yeah road only for sure. Wouldn't work well with irregular terrain off-road.
