I´m 6 feet 3.6 inches tall and have some issues with the ergonomics of my DX:

  • seat to footpegs is too narrow
  • stand up riding position: bar ist too far away for an upright position

Do anybody have experiences of lowering the footpegs?

I'm 6'5" so I have to make pretty serious adjustments to every bike I buy. I feel your pain!

First, I would get the raised seat, it makes a huge difference.

Second, roll the bars forward a bit. It will make the riding position while standing much better. I am not using bar risers, and I fit just fine.

Lastly, you could order some Black Dog foot pegs that lower the pegs by about .05 inches. I have those on order and they're due to release in March/April.

Hope that helps.

Bosleys Pegs now sells footpegs for the Desert X, just had some delivered last week. Being 6'4" I went with Rally version, -30mm down and -20 mm back in RAW finish. I had them a couple years ago made for my KTM 690 and love them. They give me more comfort when sitting and make it easier to transition to standing. Took just 13 days from ordering to delivery in Canada. $127.50 plus $35 U.S. shipping.

I'm 6'5" too and have to make adjustments to all my bikes as well. I go with the raised seat. I usually go with ROX bar risers, 1.5 inch rise or so. They allow for more adjustment front to rear depending on your reach. My understanding that anything much over 15mm rise on a DX and you run out of brakeline clearance, so watch that you don't bind or rub side to side, it may need an extension. My problem with using the ROX on the DX is the weird angled handle bar clamp doesn't allow for the straight cut ROX riser. I'm still waiting to see if they come up with a solution for that. Also SW-Motech will take your stock seat and recover it with really nice synthetic leather, custom stiching and add foam height for taller riders for not much more than buying the OEM Ducati DX tall seat. The SW Motech seat looks great, I'm wondering if adds any more softer comfort as my stock seat starts to get really uncomfortable after 60-70 miles.

There is a established shop for GS coming up to the DX accessoires market: Wunderlich.

They will offer e.g. bar adjustments, seats and peg relocations to adjust ergonomics - they will come up in the first half of 2023.

the first products are announced: DesertX - Wunderlich Adventure

Especially the windscreen should sort out the DX wind issue.

Regarding seating the taller guys have to be careful by not having a too high seat and therefore sitting more in the wind flow on higher speed. Therefore lowering the pegs will be more reasonable.
