Hey Guys,
Heads up needed here. Was following a thread yesterday about a fellow DDX rider who took some engine case damage offroad when a rock contacted his side stand.

Mu comments are:
Dont assume the tin can that comes with your bike is suitable for anything but a trip to Starbucks.
Ducati mgmt needs to address this with professionalism.

They have addressed it by giving you the option to buy the upgraded engine guard that gives the protection to the side stand mount or use a 3rd party engine guard to replace the oem one lol. think common sense was missing when said owner went off road riding with the flimsy oem engine guard lol

Good to know. There are also better skid plates, I think the Camel adv offers better protection at the side stand than the ducati offroad plate. I’m good with the duc offroad plate, it looks stout.
Camel products look very capable, however they have nothing available. And it seems like they will be quite a ways out on production. They did mention that they want to make sure the products are right before selling them, but come on, the bike has been out quite a while now. They seem to focus more on the T7 stuff than any others.

and the side stand is mounted to a bracket - 147€ replacement part - not directly to the engine itself.

Part #1 is not the problem, seems it's held on by one bolt, but a minor hit cracked the engine case, requiring two new center cases, and labour to replace it. Aprox 8500 U.S. dollars. I'm hoping the the 2024 Ducati Desert X comes out with "All new frame with stronger mounting points for 2024". Or will Ducati sweep it under the rug for now and tell u to go pound sound when you crack your engine case. For now buy the biggest and best engine skid plate you can find.

Yeah, agree good armor is a must. However I am suspect of a ‘minor’ ‘5mph’ hit doing that kind of damage.
Unlucky shit happens on the trail, be prepared with your bike and choose your lines

Check them out on YouTube and social. They should be close to releasing products soon.

Sounds like a nice hoax to me. Ducati made a separate bracket for the stand to protect the engine. That's a good idea. Otherwise: get an appropriate skid plate if you are into heavy and rocky terrain and watch the line you drive.
