I am new to this forum, but I have had my Desert x since last summer, I think I was one of the first owners in Sweden....
When I learnt to drive motorcycle I lived on the countryside, driving mostly on gravel, so in my younger days I only had offroad motorcycles, with an Elefant 900ie as a "climax" (I still own it). After that I switched to Ducatis ST4S (which I also still have), but when I got news of the Desert x it felt like a way to "come home", to close the motorcycle circle, which I could not resist....
Actually, I haven´t driven that much on it, but I think it is a beautiful bike. Right now I am convalescent after a shoulder injury, so it will take a while before I can ride it again....
