How did you fit the stock bar ends? Did you use the bolt HDB provides?

 

Yes, I drilled and tapped (M6) the center of the big HDB supplied bar-end bolts. The HDB bolts are reasonably hard and I went through three cheap hardware store M6 taps.

 

Interesting. I may have to try that. They look good, do you think it will stay put when the bike goes over? Any other issues installing besides the 104mm vs 106mm? Mine just came in the mail today. Going to put them on tomorrow.

 

Patience is a virtue.

Tightening the lower perches to the upper triple clamp will be your first challenge. They'll rotate during tightening and then you'll have to realign them so the handlebar can drop into the saddles.

Loosely, and I mean loosely, assemble and start all bolts before tightening any.

When fitting the top bar clamp, make sure each of the four socket head hold-down bolts have a several threads started before beginning to tighten them. Hold the bar clamp up as you tighten the bolts a little by little.

Seat the forward hold down bolts first then the rear. Torque the front ones first then rear.

So, I ordered the HDB hand guards over 3 weeks ago. Got a confirmation after order and have been ghosted ever since. No returned email, nothing.

Hi, I need to throw myself on a sword here. Today I am finishing up installing a "new to us" mill. I should have it done today but like everything in life it takes twice as long as we figured. If you are waiting for a setup I am sorry for the delay. It is coming. I don't want to send out junk so i am cutting top clamps as soon as I get the machine installed. Thank you HDB

Not sure why @BillyD installed them, but I did not when I got mine, and I do not have vibration from the HBD guards if that is a concern, and I can tell you from practical experience, they are tough as nails if you find yourself in a position to need them

 

Yeah, I know these have a good reputation. The pricing at $275... Do you have any photos that show the bolt going into the grips? I assume it's an allen/hex from what I can see on the HDB website.
