My Desert X was just delivered! The the dealer came through was able to drop it here in my unheated garage. The temps for the next 3-4 months will be -12C (10F) to 0C (32F) with the occasional stretch much colder, and some days slightly above freezing. The roads are all salted and slushy so I won't be able to do the break-in riding until spring.

Is it safe to start it up and idle so I can see how it sounds? I really want to fire it up, but since it hasn't been through its break-in period yet and because it's going to be well below freezing most days I'm wondering if that'd be a bad idea.

It delivered with a full tank of gas.

Thanks for any thoughts

Starting and idling is OK as long as you let it get up to operating temp. What is that you ask? Well I let mine get up to around 160F to 190F. I watch the temp gage. You will most likely need a battery tender for a lithum battery. Those batteries don't like the cold.
