Loose bolts - dangerous

432 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  dirtcycle
Maybe I have a 'Friday Bike' but at 600 miles my rear brake reservoir fell of and melted on the Cat - replaced under warranty. At 2000 miles the banjo bolts to the rear calliper and rear Master cylinder have come loose and leaked hydraulic fluid over the rear disc and wheel - now back at the dealer to repair and I have asked them to check ALL the visible bolts on the bike.

That is just crazy. Did the screws have the yellow paint markings (that supposedly signify that they have been torqued to spec)?

Yellow markings all there - only been light off-road so no idea how they could have loosened.
Unlucky. I'll be spending an evening in the garage tomorrow, with a spanner in hand.
The bike should of been PDI checked before leaving the dealership !!! That's the dealership techs not doing their job !!

Agree - more importantly they should have checked again after the reservoir fell off and during the first service.

Yep, dealerships are getting worse.BTW, stay clear of the Vegas dealer.
After my first service a lot of the hardware heads were wearing yellow and now white paint. Ive got a good dealer but I still do as much of my own maintenance as I can.
With dirtbikes, I end up going thru a vat of loctite with each new bike as stuff loosens from vibes, especially when new.
