I ordered the Bluetooth multi media system (music, turn by turn navigation, etc.) at the dealer while I was buying my bike. I got it installed after it came in the other day. The dealer enabled it and I was able to connect my phone. However, when I open up the ducati link app and try to do navigation it tells me that turn by turn is “enabled” but that I need to “activate” the license. And that I need to contact my dealer. Reading the manual for the Desert X it mentions needing both the bluetooth unit + a license that is tied to the Vin number. My dealer didn’t know how to get the license and is going to research it with Ducati next week. Anyone get turn by turn working on their bike? And if so, ho did you get the license? The bluetooth is working as I can now control music and make phone calls using the bike, but no turn by turn nav.

I looked hard at this, but skipped it because I could not see where anyone actually had it working. And, the dealer didn't really seem to know how / if it worked. While the Multimedia bluetooth connector has been around for other Ducati models, I think the Ducati Link app / turn-by-turn feature may be a first with the DesertX. I have no interest in phone calls or music. Just navigation.

The "equipment" available on the Ducati webpage for the DesertX seems to be changing regularly. The other night I thought I saw that there was additional software that had to be purchased to activate "turn-by-turn", but I don't see that anymore. I also can't download the instructions for the multimedia system.

Please let me know when you figure it out. Thanks.

I got some info on this. Looks like there is an additional software (aka license) purchase that needs to made but isn’t available yet in the US.

I did find it available in other countries and converted to about $70 US. I’m going to monitor and hopefully get it activated as soon as it’s available to purchase.

So, will this work with Google maps?

Thanks for the update. So, it looks like $290 for Multimedia and $70 or so for the software. That's a little pricey if you are only interested in navigation, but not too bad. I think you wanted the music and phone, also.

I'll keep on the lookout for the availability of the software. If you get it up and running, I'd love to see your review.

it might make more sense to just get a garmin if turn by turn is the goal.I liked the idea of controlling music with the bikes controls as I dont like messing with my phone nor is it easy with gloves. So far that’s been nice, but probably not worth the price. I’ll report back once I get turn by turn working.
