I just finished installing my off road package. Of course I stripped the hex head of one of the screws near the front cylinder. Took me a full week, but finally got it out. Here's what I tried:
I got fed up, got by biggest pressure plier and spent almost an hour trying to grab that screw and move an arcsecond a time.
Finally it got out... the metal of that screw is really soft, and the torque to unscrew is really high
- Used a slightly oversized torx and light tapping with a hammer
- Dremel a slot and use a big flat head with wrench
- Drilled the screw and tried to use an extraction tool - the tool broke inside the screw
- Plier trying to grab on the screw flange
- Finally I bought a welder (ARC - the wrong type) but as I was practicing welding a nut on a sacrificial screw I saw it wasn't going to work
