Rally seat?

1300 miles with rally seat... It was awful!

At the end of the month we will go on another Balkan round, this time with the Rallysitztbank.
I will report.

Agreed, rally seat = sitting on 2x4's. A shame how uncomfortable it is and how firm the foam is.

One other thing to note: if you run soft luggage like the mosko setup with the rally seat you will have to pull the bags to get under the seat, not ideal in a pinch The stock split seat works better for this and is good for 900 miles or so.

Almost 8’000 km with original seat included 5’000 km in Morocco. So far so good.

I’m 6’3” so for the extra seat height tested a rally seat in the shop for about 30 min. Felt it didn’t give enough support and pushed me forward, which is great for hard enduro riding but not for long distance touring. I previously bought the rallye seat for my GS1250 and ditched for a modified high seat, which is what I’ll likely go with on the DDX. Just did 1400kms with the stock seat, an Airhawk and some low-down Multistrada pegs that a mate kindly donated, and I couldn’t have been more comfy.

Stole the seat designer from KTM...

I have both seats and if I know I’m going for a quick local off-road fun I’ll use the Rally seat; Otherwise, I would rather use the standard seat which I even installed a gel pad in the seat foam. I don’t like the Rally seat for long distance at all.

Did the same for my GS seat—put a gel pad in the seat foam, huge improvement. Will do the same with the DX seat.

I was checking with Sargent Seats as I've enjoyed their seats on past motorcycles and they said they are looking for more interest on the DesertX before they create one. I would encourage everyone to send them an email so they can start development and we have better seat options.
