Do I found a shop in town willing to cut down my WRS enduro screen as it’s better for me than stock screen but still to loud imho. Marked where I wanted it cut on the bike then took it off & left it. Man it’s like a whole new bike. Zero buffeting or noise with my foam plugs & Arai XD4. I think I want to come up with something that mounts to the 4 holes but just follows the contour of the dash so it looks finished & turn signal wires are covered.

End result….had a couple inches chopped off the WRS enduro screen. Guy finished it better than WRS did. Still slightly quieter with nothing but this will work. Very happy with how it functions and how it looks. If I did it over I would have purchased the black screen & cut it down to this height as you do not look thru it anyway & I feel the black looks better.

Nice experiment! If you want to black it out, it's pretty easy. I sprayed Plastidip on the inside of my CRF Rally screen and it turned out great-- it's matte on the interior, but glossy black on the exterior.

The screen definitely causes some issues. I took a naked upright bike for an MOT today, brought it home and swapped straight on to the DDX. Lots of noise and buffeting that wasn't present on the naked bike.

It's not a show stopper for me, or even something to complain about, however, it is there. Come the summer, I may try removing the screen and going for a ride to see how much it changes. I do like the idea of the shorter screen. It will be interesting to see if there are any after market screens available in the near future to resolve the problem.

really good to hear that you solved the problem, but why did you cut the WRS and not the OEM?
thanks

I know you are an experienced driver, me too, 42 years on bikes and still love it, but believe me, this is a problem ..

I went to Croatia over Christmas to testdrive the DDX before buying, and first day I got ringing bells in my ears after riding, I use moulded ear plugs of a hight quality, got a new Nexx WedII Carbon edition, an upgrade from 4 years with Nexx, been riding 50.000km on my GS with that setup with no problems at all

The DDX makes a kind of deep low frequency rumbling on the helmet in driving position, if I stand up its gone, so it comes from turbulence from the windscreen, same as if your ride a car 120km/t with open windows, but its all concentrated on the helmet

It was a problem all 5 days, I livede with it because I read online that I could get a higher windscreen and a lower seat that would fix the problem, and I climbed around on the bike to get out of the noise 😳

Now I got my own DDX, and today I changed the windscreen to the expensive touring version and the seat to the lower version, and there is close to no change, the noise is unbearable for me, and im so annoyed over this, I took the peak off the helmet, tried 2 other helmet and ended fire up the old GS and tried with the same helmets and routes, freezing my ass off, button line is, the noise comes from the DDX, its a huge problem for me, I got tinitus like symptoms, that’s sucks…

but its difficult to understand why only some riders experience this, and not all
off course the hight of the rider and the helmet is factors, somehow standard, 181cm, 74kg and I can stand up or get the head down on the tank, then its gone, but sitting in a normal driving position is torture for my ears, so the fuss as you call it, is actually a very serious problem for some of us, this is not because we are bored, stupid or not rough enough 🙏🏽

I've been out again on mine today. Yesterday I was wearing my Arai TourX 4. Today, I was wearing a new Arai Quantic, which I'd bought to eliminate the peak issues I thought I was going to encounter.

To be honest, I'll need to do a bit more testing, but I think it was worse on the Quantic.

This is definitely a screen issue. It is interesting why it affects some more than others, but I will be seeking a solution at some point as it's not right. Perhaps there will be a recall for the screen. ;)
