Hi,

My road with Ducati S2R 1000 has come to end (need more comfortable bike for riding). Few days ago I filled a purchase order for 2023 Ducati Desert X... Should be here in about 1 month. Roads in Finland are getting worst and there is much to explore off-road. I used to have knobbies in S2R, but with street suspensions, there was not much fun in rocky roads. Also engine protection was quite limited in a street bike

My Desert X will come with following accessories, heated grips and Off-road package. I will get some soft panniers for traveling but do not yet know what would be the best solution for me.

One reason for getting this bike was that myy right hand fingers get quite numb and tingle sometime when riding S2R, so I cannot wait to get cruise control to ease that problem

This would be my firs totally new bike in my 40 years of living. I have previously owned Suzuki GT250, Suzuki T500, Suzuki GS450, BMW R100RS, Suzuki DR750 Big, BMW K1200RS, Ducati S2R1000.. Also currently have a few project bikes, Moto Guzzi Lario 650, BMW K100LT, MZ ETZ 250 -85, MZ ES 250 -64...

I loved my S2r1000 & so far 1 ride into being a Dezert X owner I love it too! It feels like a big, long, fast comfy couch compared to the Monster. Bottom end is soft but once it hits 5,000 RPM it pulls nicely!

Sweet S2R I did the saddle sore 1000mile/24h with monster few years ago.. It is not the most comfortable to drive long distance, but the 15l tank forced you to stop every 150-200km that helped a bit... Cant wait to get my couch ;D and a good looking one..

Well once you get ducati, it is hard to look something else.. but yes. Few years ago I was thinking about getting KTM 790 or 990 adventure bike… But had no extra money for that. Also I was thinking about getting old dr800 or dr750… But then my dad passed away and got few more project bikes, so no room without selling some from the garrage..

Last summer I tried Ducati street fighter that I had also fancied for.. It was super fun bike, but with that power I would not have my license for long.. also then I found out that Adv bike would be best for me. Also I had some trips with my wife and her kawa 650 and I got some complaiments about constant stops for fuel 😂 My S2R had custom gauges, so I had no fuell warning lights. I did not want to go more than 150km without refueling..

At that time there was no desert x to try and see. Dealer said to me that in year 2022 there was only 6 desert x imported to Finland. So time passed and then me and my wife went to MP23 motorcycle show.. There was this new Ducati Desert X to sit and look… I was blinded. I went to KTM stand, but didnt see anything. Honda transalp, it was there, but didnt even take photo from that… I told my wife that Desert X would be nice and a good bike for me.. and She supported me 😂 I had to make few promisess.. but I can life with those

I did some compairison between other adv bikes, like norden (oh that was also in the show). But Ducati was for me…
