Here’s what I’m going to do…I’m going to order the center stand that is for the Desert X and then I’m going to take my Rally to a great machine shop and have them weld on the left side a connecting part to receive the slide through bolt, as is on the right side. I’m then going to have them cut both center stand legs off and weld in an added piece on both legs. This way I won’t be changing any parts around on the bike that Ducati warned me would void my warrantee.
Just checking in, how did this work out for you? I'd still love to put one on my rally

Well it is possible! I will fill you in with more details and pics once I’m back from Costa Rica.
Well for any of you out there who own a Desert X Rally and have been trying to figure out how to install a center stand (they don’t come with a center stand and only have a connection on the right side), I finally figured out all of the pieces to this Italian puzzle. I’m using my Rally as an adventure bike and if you don’t have a center stand, its more challenging to change the tires in the middle of nowhere, especially if there is nothing to lean your bike on with the kickstand down, because that’s the way it is done.

So the regular Desert X does have a center stand and because the Rally is built on the same frame, I ordered the left side aluminum bracket (back side pictured, but shows part number) and also ordered a center stand for a Desert X. I took it to a machine shop friend, Keith who use to build custom motorcycles for 10 years. He had to remove the left side foot stand and the foot shifter. This is where the new aluminum bracket was installed. Then he had to extend the legs of the center stand, because of the height difference between the Desert X and the Desert X Rally. After that was done, the center stand was mounted. IT WORKED!!!!😃

I also had him cut an inch off of the kickstand and weld a larger foot on it. This was done because Ducati put too long of a kickstand on the bike that made it too upright, especially unstable with side bag luggage. 😎

Sounds like I need to order 82414131AA (L.H. FOOT PEG HOLDER PLATE) and the center stand? Now I gotta find a fabricator here in Knoxville. Thanks for this info!

Yes, when you go to parts department at Ducati, it’s the same left side part that is on the Desert X. Depending on your skills, you can put the part on yourself. I’ll send pics of the install.

The center stand that I ordered didn’t require it to be lengthened, as I thought it would need to be. Send me an email and I will send you all of the photos. My email address is donniemackenzie@gmail.com.

Thanks Donnie for the inspiration! It went together well. The right side bolt was a bit too long (it hit my cat delete...so a slightly shorter bolt did the trick).
I guess the only complaint might be that it could be just a bit taller for better clearance (works well in my garage but maybe on a trail???). IDK, I'm stoked to have it! Way more stable than just the kickstand!

Excellent…yeah I think my center fork must be a bit longer, because my rear tire is about 1 1/2” clearance off of the ground! But isn’t it nice having that stability?! You’re welcome and so glad that worked out for you!

Correction on my above post….the center stand did not need to be extended! The center stand was ordered through SW-Motech.

Has anyone tried to install a center stand on your Rally? The dealer sold me the stock center stand and it most certainly cannot fit because it appears the left mounting bracket is missing? Is that mounting point part of the standard Desert X foot peg mount? I'm thinking (hoping) I can install a bracket or a different foot peg from a standard Desert X............thoughts??
Yes, I am happy to explain in detail my experience in installing a center stand on my Desert X Rally. I will also include pictures. Everything on the right side of the bike is ready for installing a center stand. For the left side you will simply need to order from the dealership this one aluminum piece that I will include a picture of. This piece comes on the Desert X. Once you receive this part, you will need to remove the foot peg and the foot shifter (see pics). At this point the new aluminum piece is installed and then the removed foot peg and foot shifter can be re-installed. Now everything you will need to install your center stand is in place and ready to install your center stand.

You will not need a machine shop for any of the above. The only thing you will need a machine shop for is for the single kick stand. I found the kickstand is too long, so I had my machine shop cut 1” off the kickstand and then weld a nice oval piece on for stability on soft services.

I hope this and the pics helps for a straight forward way to install your SW-MOTECH Center Stand. Please feel free to reach out for any questions!
