Just testing the bike in preparation for my upcoming trip. On short trips, I never pay attention to the wind, but now that I'm taking another trip, I'm trying to improve the highway rideability.

Setup

High fender mount
Stock windshield
Windshield defector
Double take mirrors

I'm experiencing a lot of wind on my shoulder and upper body.

Any suggestions to at least reduce this?

Always ride with a Tailwind.

Never ride behind a big truck. It's like being in a boxing match.

What speeds are you talking about? I'm 6' with a long torso. I don't notice anything at lower than highway speeds. It's that kind of in-between speed where I notice anything, if at all. Remember, these are Ducatis. They aren't really engineered to be ridden slowly. At 65-70+ mph I find that things smooth out a lot. My bike likes to cruise at about 75-90 mph.

At 50-65 it rides nice, but at 75+ not so much.

I did. I'm only 5'7" and it made no difference as the wind pummelling was still there. Added a lip spoiler and still the same. Tried a sports bike helmet and no difference. Took the screen completely off and it was quiet and better still if I raised my butt a couple of inches off the seat. I give up!

I've had to resort to a clip on deflector on the top of a touring screen. May try it on top of the original.

I've short one too which I'll probably sell.

The clip on deflector works well, but it doesn't do much for the looks.

I recently (December) got a new helmet, the Airoh Commander 2, and what an improvement!! No issues at all now, like ****ing magic. No buffeting, very little wind noise, love it!
As I wrote here,
https://www.desertxforum.com/thread...ads/best-touring-screen.984/?post_id=8607&nested_view=1&sortby=oldest#post-8607, previously the biggest improvement has been when I changed helmet, from a Shoei GT Air 2 to a Scorpion ADF 9000 and now it showed again what an impact the helmets design has. The absolutely worst helmets, either owned or just borrowed for testing, on the DX has funny enough been road helmets. But this Airoh Commander 2 is truly amazing when it comes to aerodynamics on the DX, like magic!

I tried a number of screens, WRS Enduro best compromise. Later I changed from Arai XD4 to LS2 Explorer and this was a huge difference.

Bar-end mirrors also make a difference.

Another recommendation for the Airoh Commander 2 (y)

Fitted the Puig Touring screen with an old MRA spoiler and it improved matters significantly but still not great.

Tried my Nexx X.Wed 2 (with and without the peak) - terrible, Bell Moto 3 - not good, Shark Evo GT - Ok with my open face Caberg Flyon being the best!

Airoh though is significantly better than all of the above so much so I may now try it with the original screen :)

Yeah, stock screen works great for normal use now with the Airoh Commander 2. For long touring on road I think I still would change to my WRS Caponord with wind deflector, because its so comfortable and quit, but other than that, the stock screen is now always on without any issues of buffeting. And the helmet matches the bike quite well..
